「叶松谷」は京都の一流料理店で使用される懐石食器を中心に、モダンなテーブルウエアまでを卓越した技巧で生み出す工房。デミタスカップに描かれた上絵は素焼き、本焼き、赤絵、金泥、金箔と5度も焼き重ねたもので、菩薩の胸の飾りをかたどった瓔珞(ようらく)という文様。古典柄を洋食器にフィットさせるデザイン感覚が現代的。
The excellent table-ware produced by the superior skills of the Kanoh Shoukoku studio ranges from its staple of Kaiseki earthenware favoured by many top restaurants to modern crockery. This demitasse cup goes into the furnace five times: the initial firing; the main firing; the firing of the red layer; the firing of the gold layer; and the firing of the gold leaf. This creates a pattern known as “Youraku” which represents the jewelry worn by the Bodhisattvas. The application of this classical pattern to western table-ware gives the piece a very modern look.
