百人一首かるたは、100首の美しい和歌を「読み札」と「絵札」に描きわけた玩具。なかでも江戸時代の画家・尾形光琳が絵札を描いた「光琳かるた」は、もっとも豪華なかるたといわれる。花札、かるたの老舗・「大石天狗堂」がこれを完全復刻。絵札はシルクスクリーンで表面の絵柄を刷り、金箔を焼き付けた紙で裏を一枚一枚手貼りしたもの。
A reprint of the most gorgeous Karuta produced by Edo period painter Ogata Korin.
The Hyakunin Isshu card set contains text and picture cards of 100 beautiful 31-syllable Japanese poems. Korin Karuta picture cards drawn by Edo period painter Ogata Korin are known for their absolute luxury. Ohishi Tengudo, a long-established Hanafuda and Karuta playing card store, has accurately reproduced the gorgeous Korin Karuta set. Silk-screen printing is used for the surface pictures, and paper printed with gold leaf is pasted by hand on the reverse of each card.

金箔を焼き付けた紙でかるたを裏貼りする。
裏から貼り込んだ金箔紙の縁が表に均等に出るように貼るには永年の経験とカンが重要になる。
Paper printed with gold leaf is pasted on the reverse of each Karuta card in such a way that the edge of the leaf protrudes slightly and is even when seen from the surface.
Applying this technique requires a wealth of experience and intuition.
