人形師・関原紫水と一家で営む紫風工房では、時代背景を考証し、髪型・衣裳を再現した風俗衣裳人形を創作している。動きのある人形のボディに刺繍、染めなど、本物と同じ贅を尽くして作られた着物を着付ける。衣擦れの音が聞こえそうなリアルな着姿と動き出しそうな立ち姿。頭に絹糸を埋め込み、丹念に整え結い上げた髪も見どころ。

Dollmaker Sekihara Shisui recreates period hairstyles and fashions with his dolls based on authentic and exhaustive historical research. The dolls are pliable, and wear kimono that have been painstakingly dyed and embroidered with as much care as real ones. The standing figures are so realisitic, one can almost imagine them springing to life with a rustle of silk. The intricate hairstyles recreated from silken threads embedded in the heads of the dolls are also worthy of admiration.
